| During the Dominator led invasion of Earth, a bomb exploded that triggered the meta-genes in large numbers of humans, including Roland Desmond. Falling ill due to the activation of his meta-gene, Desmond was hospitalised and given an experimental steroid as an attempt to cure him. The steroid treatment worked and Desmond gained incredible size, strength and invulnerability at the cost of his intelligence. |
