| Enhanced Abilities: Superior Carnage’s symbiotic costume provides him with enhanced strength, agility and endurance. Carnage’s strength is coincidentally greater than Spider-Man and Venom’s. |
| Wall Crawling: Superior Carnage is able to stick to almost any surface. |
| Symbiote: Superior Carnage can fashion his costume as to imitate any material (such as clothes and skin) and create tendrils from any part of it. The length of these tendrils appears unlimited. He can also solidify parts of his costume to create various constructs (most often blades, axes, and razor-sharp talons), and shoot sharp projectiles towards his opponents. These projectiles remain solid for little more than ten seconds, after which they turn to dust. As with Venom, Carnage does not trigger Spider-Man's danger sense, does not need to breathe, and is capable of sensory perception from any part of his body. At most recent years, Carnage has also learned how to increase his mass by absorbing other Symbiotes, and send his costume through telephone lines by reducing it to a cellular level. |

| Doctor Karl Malus was born in Mud Butte, South Dakota, and was fascinated by superhuman powers ever since he first read a newspaper article about the Fantastic Four and their abilities. After graduating with a biology degree from the University of California in Los Angeles, he applied to various institutions for a grant to launch an invasive study of super humans, but was rejected repeatedly. Unable to get his funding through legal means, Malus instead turned to wealthy investors involved in the Los Angeles criminal underground. He was set up with an extensive laboratory facility under the agreement that his investors could exploit the results of his research, to which he agreed, and he immodestly called his new facility the Institute for Supranormality Research - despite the fact that his staff consisted of only himself. |
| Malus joined the Wizard and Klaw in a new Frightful Four, not realizing the degree to which the Wizard's sanity had deteriorated. Inspired by the government's transformation of Venom into Agent Venom, the Wizard worked to control Carnage, but Cletus Kasady's brain proved too damaged for the Wizard to dominate. He decided to make Malus the new host for the symbiote. |
