Samantha McGee was born in poverty in rural Tennessee, escaping economic deprivation by joining the Air Force and learning to fly. She did not respond well to military discipline, however, and left the service, choosing instead to be self-employed as owner and charter pilot for McGee Charter Service and to be living in the freedom of Canada's under-populated northern territories. Unfortunately, the business was less lucrative than she had hoped, and she never grew used to the harsh weather conditions. | ||||
At one point, when staying with new clients of an archaeological dig, McGee discovered a door that allowed her to enter the temple of Balthaak. Touching the blazing brazier of Balthaak, McGee was transformed into the powerful being Inferno and became the first of the Exemplars. |
