As a teenager, the man called Shrike was a friend of Dick Grayson, the boy who would grow up to become Nightwing. Their friendship evolved into enmity, while Grayson served the cause of Justice as Batman’s partner Robin, the boy who would become known as the predatory Shrike travelled alone throughout the Pacific Rim. There he studied and mastered an array of martial arts skills both sacred and profane from a variety of unsavoury teachers, including several former operatives of the insidious League of Assassins. | ||||
In the back streets of Hong Kong, Shrike met the "Master" who would forge the already hardened youth into a disciplined killing machine. Shrike undertook many contracts throughout Asia and the former Soviet Bloc and never once failed to make the kill. Eventually returning to America, Shrike came into contact with Blockbuster and was hired to assassinate his former friend Nightwing. |
