Enhanced Abilities: Monarch has vast superhuman strength and endurance.
Body Armour: Monarch’s metallic shell, or "skin" is composed of Dilustel and is almost totally indestructible, resistant to various degrees of damage and energy. He also wears a suit of armour that was crafted using advanced technology from an alternate future, it is highly durable.
Flight: Monarch can fly, allowing him to generally fly faster than the speed of sound in Earth's atmosphere and up to half-light speed in the vacuum of space.
Energy Manipulation: Monarch’s Dilustel skin is tied into the Quantum Field, which enables him to absorb and manipulate theoretically infinite amounts of energy, the amount of which he can use is, of course, limited by his will power. If Atom absorbs too much energy at once, he is sent hurling through time. He commonly manipulates his energy into force field bubbles, explosive 'bombs' and energy blasts.
Matter Generation: Monarch can create matter in the same manner he creates energy.
Teleportation: Monarch’s armour allows him to teleport.
Dimensional Travel: Monarch has the ability to access other realities in the multi-verse.
Transformation: (Atomic): Monarch has demonstrated minor atomic transmutation powers.
Time Travel: Monarch has shown time-travelling capabilities. Through concentration, he can briefly travel ahead in time.
Monarch’s Army: Monarch has gathered his own armies from the heroes and villains of the multi-verse.

Origins:

Nathaniel Christopher Adam, was a United States Air Force officer of the Vietnam War era. Adam had been framed for a crime he didn't commit and was sentenced to death under the watch of Col. Wade Eiling in 1968. As an alternative to execution, he was invited to participate in a military experiment with little chance of survival, in exchange for a presidential pardon. The experiment involved testing the hull of a crashed alien ship's durability by exploding a super nuclear bomb under it. Adam survived as the metal melted into his body and the excess energy threw him forward in time 18 years where he adopted the identity of Captain Atom.
Captain Atom spent years as a hero and worked for the government, before a foray into an alternate reality, which resulted in multiple damage to his radiation-shielded skin and left him comatose unable to keep down his body’s radiation to safe levels. After being fitted with an updated version of the first Monarch’s armour in order to contain his radiation, the Captain awoke. Seeming to be mentally unstable, he broke free, and then released a vast amount of energy, obliterating what was left of Blüdhaven.
