Origins:

General Zod is a Kryptonian who was an adversary of Superman’s father Jor-El, who exiled him into the Phantom Zone. Zod resided in the Phantom Zone alone until he came across "Metropia", Superman's Phantom Zone shelter for Earth in the event that it suffered Krypton's fate. Zod resented Superman’s tampering with the Phantom Zone and began to corrupt it in his own image.
