| Bernard Bonner's mother Belle was a computer designer with a full workshop in the family garage. As a child Bernard and his sister Blythe had the brilliant idea of touching two live wires in the workshop, causing thousands of volts of pure electricity to surge through their bodies. The accident didn't kill them, but their father Frank blamed his wife and threw her out of the house. Bernard and his sister grew to hate their mother, believing that she had deserted them. 10 years later they discovered that their childhood accident had given them superpowers.
